Lighting the Way with Faith & Purpose 💡
Many Americans around the world are wrestling with grief, pain, and anxiety as we come to terms with the reality of another Trump presidency.
I’m deeply saddened by the election results; it feels as if I’m mourning the sudden loss of a close friend, a family relative, or a vision of hope that was gone in an instant. I held tightly to the belief that we, as a nation, were ready to sing a new song—a song of freedom and respect for all people.
Instead, I’m confronted once again with the brutal truth that the core of our nation’s pursuit of power is built on the foundation of racism, sexism, hate, and division. Here I am now, asking myself: What’s next? How do I move forward when it feels as if all hope is lost?
Filled with disbelief and despair, I tossed and turned all night, struggling to find any peace in sleep. When I woke the next morning, I felt the sharp disappointment, now deepening into anger and resentment.
But I knew it was important to process these feelings quickly, to keep my heart from hardening. Over the years, I’ve learned the value of allowing myself time and space to sit with my emotions—so I can eventually move forward in clarity and purpose.
I’ll be honest—Election Day shook my faith to the core. I struggled to see how anything good could emerge from another Trump presidency. A familiar sense of hopelessness crept in, taking me back nearly a decade to when I received an unexpected health diagnosis. Both moments left me questioning the path forward and wondering how to find light in the face of darkness.
Then, during prayer, I had an ‘aha’ moment that left me feeling profoundly convicted. It was as if a light had switched on within—I realized I had placed more faith in a specific outcome than in God Himself.
Now as I refocus and surrender my expectations to God’s plans and purposes, I’m choosing to ask a more empowering question, one rooted in faith and purposeful action: How can I take this moment by the hand, show up fully, and lead myself and others forward?
As we navigate the days ahead, I invite you to reflect on where you’re placing your own hope and how you too can continue moving your life forward. If you're feeling a mix of emotions, know you're not alone. Let’s support each other, share our stories, and find strength together.
I’d love to hear your thoughts, struggles, and insights—let’s take each other’s hand, build each other up, and step into what’s next with courage and purpose—despite political differences.
